If you have the hand manual, the installation process may be too detailed yet still too complicated to follow. What you have here now is the installation process outline, so you can decide whether you can install the opener yourself or not.
Before the installation;
- Make sure your door works properly, if it jams then you should make it repaired first and serviced by the trained technician only.
- Remove any ropes or cords to avoid getting tangled.
- Do not wear any rings, watches and loose fitting.
During the installation;
- Install the power unit and the manual disconnect cord no less than 6’ – 7’ from the floor.
- For eternal electrical wiring installment, disconnect the power prior to attempting to wire connections.
- The push button control should be installed no less than 5’ to avoid children from reaching it.
- Regulate the safety reverse system and the electric eye system appropriately.
After the installation;
- Do not let children operate or play the opener. Make sure the radio transmitter is out of children reach.
- Do not pass under garage door while opening.
- Check the safety reverse system and the electric eye system every once a month.
- Check the manual operation in regular basis.
- Disconnect the electrical power during regular service.
All in all, always make sure safety comes first before, during and after the garage door opener installations to make certain the unit works properly all the times.
